WHAT IS BARRE?

Barre fitness uses small, repetitive movements to train the body like a ballerina. You’ll focus on the back-body muscles like glutes, hamstrings, and calves, while using your core to stabilize the whole time.

MORE Q&A:

I’ve never done it before, can I still join?

YES! Whether you’ve taken resolution with us or not, all are welcome. As I teach, I will give you variations to try to make things more challenging, or to scale back - based on what you need. I’m always going to tell you to do what works for your body, which means that if you have an injury or something just doesn’t feel right, you can modify the movement, or sit some things out.

What equipment do I need?

You’ll need something like a wall, chair or sturdy piece of furniture for balance. Additional equipment will depend on what people have access to. I like to use the small inflatable pilates balls (9” ball, aka Bender Ball), resistance bands, or small hand weights. If you’re doing the class on hard flooring, you might also want a mat or towel for when we’re on the ground.

What else do I need?

You’ll need a computer or iPad, or some device that allows you to access Zoom. I don’t recommend using your phone, just because it’s a bit small for this purpose.
